A little bit about us

Children's Circle is a small family owned centre fully licensed by the Ministry of Education, overlooking a peaceful semi rural valley in the heart of Welcome Bay. From the deck we enjoy a beautiful natural outlook and can observe the pukekos down in the swamp and the amazing birdlife in the trees...tuis, rosellas, fantails, waxeyes, sparrows and even kingfishers from time to time..... all sing their song during the day.

The beautiful natural outside area provides interesting little spaces for our tamariki to play in. The sandpit and water play provide wonderful exploratory experiences and the equipment is versatile to provide for many learning opportunities.

Inside is a beautiful, cosy, homely environment where tamariki are involved in creative and imaginative play. The tamariki love to help prepare food for their meals, they may knead the dough for their bread buns, help make pizza or cut up fruit. They might look after the dollies, build a house, create a story or draw with the beautiful beeswax crayons.....

A long path down the bank leads us to a large grassy area with garden beds, worm farm, fruit trees and even a few chooks. Here the tamariki are involved in the growing and tending of vegetables. They help plant, tend, harvest and prepare them for our meals and then they get to eat them. They help feed the chooks and collect the eggs....This area provides for many adventurous activities.... there is a mudpit, swing, areas for climbing. Our 6 hour day garden programme is held in this area and provides for many wonderful outdoor learning opportunities.

Mission

The Mission of Children's Circle is to provide an education and care programme that protects the sanctity of early childhood. Through relationship, imaginative play, meaningful work and expressive arts each child can grow in body (tinana), mind (hinengaro) and spirit (wairua), at their own pace.

Vision

Our Vision is to create an unhurried, homelike "child space" where self initiated and directed play forms the basis for their growth and development enabling the young child to learn with and alongside others in a natural way.

Quality teaching, meaningful relationships and natural resources nurture each child's innate sense of curiosity and wonder and supports each child to grow their confidence, competence, resilience, social capacity, creativity and a sense of who they are, equipping them for life.
